Photo series- the idea of collecting a series of photographs surrounding a specific theme or emotion. Now I know the “Ice Cream Series” may seem juvenile but the idea of a refreshing and delectable cone in the summer is for the most part, a universal emotion. Therefore, myself and my creative friend Stephen Molella (view his work here) have decided to document every time we, (or I), have an ice cream this summer and put a creative-twist into each part of the series.
I have always been keen on scarves, but since my recent visit to Paris I have been frequenting the scarf look more than usual. I bought a bunch before my trip and love the way they add character and that extra something to my look. I would also like to point out these amazing high waisted wide leg pants. They have both the makings of my little fashion heart; stripes & a high waist. I tucked a black cami to match my shoes, and paired a blue and white scarf to match the pants. One of my favourite looks of the summer so far!
Growing up in the 90s-2000s, I can definitely attest to the fact that my mother indeed, wore mom jeans like these. I love that these jeans are back on trend, with their relaxed nature and the fact that they are high-waisted which is my favourite feature in a jean. What’s even better about the mom-jean-trend, is that it is incredibly easy to style. You can tuck anything into them like a sleek cami, white-tee, or body-suit. You can even pair them with a crop, throw on a pair of sneakers and you have a very sleek, relaxed and on trend look!
Hi guys! I am super excited to show you what I treated myself to recently. It is one of my favourite pieces currently and is definitely a piece I will have with me forever. I have always loved a simple outfit with a classic touch, whether it be a shoe or a bag, this time I have opted for a brooch; a classic, timeless Chanel brooch. Growing up I always used to wear pins and brooches on my jackets (thanks to my mama), and that inspiration came back to me recently. I thought of how cool it would be to dress up a tailored jacket or blazer again with a elegant brooch, either alone or alongside another pin. I think one brooch suffices when you’re putting it on a crisp jacket, but why not add two or three pins to a denim jacket or even a casual tee. I think that really elevates a look and definitely isn’t something you see people do often. I even have a “V” brooch that I’ve had since I was a kid, and I am really excited to pair that with the Chanel C’s!
There is so much to be said about a great little black dress. It’s versatile, can be on heavy rotation, you can work layers into it, and it can be the mediator of a statement shoe or bag. Or simply, the little black dress can be the focal point of interest. It is a dependable wardrobe staple that everyone should have. Pictured I am wearing my LBD as the simple focus, and I paired it with a suede bootie. It is an overall-put-together-look, and with a slicked ponytail, you can’t go wrong in showcasing a simple yet sophisticated look.
It has always been a dream of mine to go to New York City in the fall for my birthday, and for me this year that came true! I am so blessed to have such an amazing best friend who surprised me with the trip which couldn’t have come at a better time, considering I really needed a reason to get away for a little bit. I am excited to share with you guys some pictures from the trip, including what I wore while roaming around my favourite city.
It felt really good to leave everything behind, even just for a few days. It is important to clear your head, take time for yourself and kind of discover who you are, what you want and where you are headed. Life can get pretty crazy and rough, so if it is going to take a quick weekend away to help sort yourself out, do it. Everyone needs a break sometimes.
One thing I love to embody is the borrowed-from-the-boys look. I am super into the cigarette pant + oxfords look, especially when I throw a trench coat over top which really plays with aspects of masculine and feminine style. Nowadays that men and women shop in each others sections anyhow makes me even more excited to play in the mens section and work it into stuff I already have.
Hi guys! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a look (I suck), but now that fall is arriving, I will definitely be sure to post a lot more. Fall is my favourite season to dress for, so stay tuned for how I style it.
I really wanted to share with you guys these killer Dolce & Gabbana boots for fall. We just got them in at Saks and I could not wait to put them on. Make sure to pop in to Saks at Sherway Gardens for all your fall desires. We have received a lot of amazing styles to help you transition into the new season and keep you looking fresh for fall!
One of my favourite things to do with a look is to play with tones. Mixing neutrals with a touch of colour tends to intimidate people but realistically, playing with tones is an infallible way of creating a really unique or cool look. For me, navy is my black, and I never go wrong with a navy+neutral or navy+color combo.
Today marks the 400th year of William Shakespeare’s death. It is astounding how the words of one man can live on for all of time, and have the same affect on us now that it did him so many years ago. I love to think that the way Shakespeare once felt I can feel too, it makes me believe that a part of his soul fully understands a piece of mine. I have always loved Shakespeare’s work from his plays to his sonnets, but my absolute favourite of all time is Sonnet 116. Everything that I believe about love is eloquently written with this sonnet and it makes me feel something each and every time that I read it. Below is Shakespeare’s sonnet on the left, and the paraphrased version on the right for better understanding. This is written and timed proof that there is nothing else greater or more fulfilling than a life that has love in it.
SONNET 116 PARAPHRASED
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Let me not declare any reasons why two
Admit impediments. Love is not love
True-minded people should not be married. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Which changes when it finds a change in circumstances,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
Or bends from its firm stand even when a lover is unfaithful:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
Oh no! it is a lighthouse
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
That sees storms but it never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Love is the guiding north star to every lost ship,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Whose value cannot be calculated, although its altitude can be measured.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Love is not at the mercy of Time, though physical beauty
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Comes within the compass of his sickle.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
Love does not alter with hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
But, rather, it endures until the last day of life.
If this be error and upon me proved,
If I am proved wrong about these thoughts on love
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Then I recant all that I have written, and no man has ever [truly] loved.
