Photo series- the idea of collecting a series of photographs surrounding a specific theme or emotion. Now I know the “Ice Cream Series” may seem juvenile but the idea of a refreshing and delectable cone in the summer is for the most part, a universal emotion. Therefore, myself and my creative friend Stephen Molella (view his work here) have decided to document every time we, (or I), have an ice cream this summer and put a creative-twist into each part of the series.
I have always been keen on scarves, but since my recent visit to Paris I have been frequenting the scarf look more than usual. I bought a bunch before my trip and love the way they add character and that extra something to my look. I would also like to point out these amazing high waisted wide leg pants. They have both the makings of my little fashion heart; stripes & a high waist. I tucked a black cami to match my shoes, and paired a blue and white scarf to match the pants. One of my favourite looks of the summer so far!
Growing up in the 90s-2000s, I can definitely attest to the fact that my mother indeed, wore mom jeans like these. I love that these jeans are back on trend, with their relaxed nature and the fact that they are high-waisted which is my favourite feature in a jean. What’s even better about the mom-jean-trend, is that it is incredibly easy to style. You can tuck anything into them like a sleek cami, white-tee, or body-suit. You can even pair them with a crop, throw on a pair of sneakers and you have a very sleek, relaxed and on trend look!
There is so much to be said about a great little black dress. It’s versatile, can be on heavy rotation, you can work layers into it, and it can be the mediator of a statement shoe or bag. Or simply, the little black dress can be the focal point of interest. It is a dependable wardrobe staple that everyone should have. Pictured I am wearing my LBD as the simple focus, and I paired it with a suede bootie. It is an overall-put-together-look, and with a slicked ponytail, you can’t go wrong in showcasing a simple yet sophisticated look.
I am here with some more of my favourite excerpts in literature. I am going to post a few tonight; I am feeling exceptionally deep..
“Years of love have been forgot, in the hatred of a minute.” – Edgar Allan Poe
“I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand, and the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep..& there are no words for that.”
“I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic then to love people.” – Van Gogh
“The best people possess a feeling for beauty. The courage to take risks. The discipline to tell the truth. The capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded. Sometimes destroyed.” – Ernest Hemingway
“A great man is always wiling to be little.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald
It has always been a dream of mine to go to New York City in the fall for my birthday, and for me this year that came true! I am so blessed to have such an amazing best friend who surprised me with the trip which couldn’t have come at a better time, considering I really needed a reason to get away for a little bit. I am excited to share with you guys some pictures from the trip, including what I wore while roaming around my favourite city.
It felt really good to leave everything behind, even just for a few days. It is important to clear your head, take time for yourself and kind of discover who you are, what you want and where you are headed. Life can get pretty crazy and rough, so if it is going to take a quick weekend away to help sort yourself out, do it. Everyone needs a break sometimes.
Happy Valentine’s Day guys! This day is very special to me because A) It is my name day, and B) I loooooove chocolates, flowers & all that good stuff. I’m an old sappy romantic which is why this next excerpt, which is one of my favorites, is appropriate to post today.
This is from a Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare:
“They do not love that do not show their love. The course of true love never did run smooth. Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but love.”
Happy belated thanksgiving guys! This was my outfit-of-choice for this holiday that re-affirms fall is here and the bitter Canada cold is on its way. None the less, thanksgiving weekend was surprisingly warm and I was able to wear this ensemble without having to layer. This dress, which I scored from h&m for only $19.99, blew my mind because of all the incredible detail it has. The neck buttons all the way up and is finished with dainty ruffles. The bottom of the sleeves are also finished with ruffles. It was very Shakespearean- which is probably why I loved it so much. The mix of colours and leaves complimented the season, and I finished the look with a camel hat & high boots.
If you missed my previous post about me sharing some of my favourite quotes/inspirations etc, you can see it here
Today’s inspo, or better yet what inspired me back in 2010 was this quote by Mitch Albom from Tuesdays With Morrie. We read this book in school and everyone absolutely loved it. It is an inspirational and motivational tale that is exploding with quotes. This one though, stuck with me then and sticks with me now. It is these passages that always remain relevant that are most significant.
“Life is a series of pulls back and forth…A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. Most of us lie somewhere in the middle. A wrestling match…Which side wins? Love wins. Love always wins.”
