Farewell

Hi y’all! Just checking in to wish all of you a very Happy New Year and to bid farewell to the year 2016. This year was an incredibly crucial one for me. I learned a lesson that I had yet to experience in my twenty-four years and it was truly an emotional rollercoaster that at many points, I really wish I was not on. As the year has come to a close and I can see things a little clearer now, I can understand where certain cliches like “everything happens for a reason”, and “whatever is meant to be will be”, come from. I think that these sayings give people hope because hope is better than fear; fear of the unknown, or fear that maybe you won’t end up where you want to be or who you want to be with. I have learned that sometimes as much as you really try for something, believe in it and even fight for it, sometimes we really don’t get what it is that we want. I don’t exactly know how that makes me feel at the moment, but that also goes back to telling myself that what is meant will happen, and who is meant for me won’t leave. I learned that believing and trusting myself really is incredibly important. YOU are your biggest fan, and only you must love and appreciate yourself before someone else can. I have learned that what is important to you, and what is worth it, takes work. I had something that made me feel alive for the first time in my life, and as hard as it was, it didn’t matter because it made me the happiest person in the whole world, even though it also made me the saddest. Through this experience I learned about patience, sacrifice, putting others before myself, that overthinking can drive a person completely crazy, and love. So what I can tell you is don’t overthink it. Whatever it is just do it, jump in full force and go ALL in. Go and get whatever it is that you want and do not let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t. No one should be able to dictate your happiness. You will never win if you are scared. Don’t be afraid to create moments afraid that one day they might be memories, because memories are worse than bullets. But it is the memories that teach you and no one can take them away from you. Your heart always knows, so don’t bother suppressing it. I had something that I was scared to lose, and although it’s gone, I now know that what I read in books does exist, and that I nor anyone, should ever settle for less than that. Oh and lastly, be unforgettable.

You simply are that love I was meant to live, even if in the end, fate didn’t choose me.”

Besides that which was the most important lesson of all, 2016 was also filled with family, good friends, a new job in my field, traveling and setting new goals. In 2017 I plan to focus on myself, work on my career, travel a lot, and hope that all else will fall into place as it is meant too.

Until next time,

Little Black Dress

img_5206

There is so much to be said about a great little black dress. It’s versatile, can be on heavy rotation, you can work layers into it, and it can be the mediator of a statement shoe or bag.  Or simply, the little black dress can be the focal point of interest. It is a dependable wardrobe staple that everyone should have. Pictured I am wearing my LBD as the simple focus, and I paired it with a suede bootie. It is an overall-put-together-look, and with a slicked ponytail, you can’t go wrong in showcasing a simple yet sophisticated look.

Hey y’all! Just want to throw in a quick weekend outfit post. Although we are in November, the weather has been super good to us. We get to enjoy all the fall favours without the chilling temperature. Fall is the best season to wear clothes, and the fact that I can still be wearing culottes this time of year makes it even better. You probably all know how obsessed I am with grey and how much I love pairing neutral tones. I got these amazing culottes from Oak + Fort with it’s matching top, which I will be sure to post together soon.  Other fall staples; leather jacket, skinny jeans, booties, bombers, your favourite double breasted overcoat, and the list goes on. Take advantage of this warm fall weather before we have to cover up in winter coats and boots!

A Writers Craft IIII

I am here with some more of my favourite excerpts in literature. I am going to post a few tonight; I am feeling exceptionally deep..

“Years of love have been forgot, in the hatred of a minute.” – Edgar Allan Poe

“I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand, and the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep..& there are no words for that.”

“I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic then to love people.” – Van Gogh

“The best people possess a feeling for beauty. The courage to take risks. The discipline to tell the truth. The capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded. Sometimes destroyed.” – Ernest Hemingway

“A great man is always wiling to be little.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Until next time,

ME IN NYC

It has always been a dream of mine to go to New York City in the fall for my birthday, and for me this year that came true! I am so blessed to have such an amazing best friend who surprised me with the trip which couldn’t have come at a better time, considering I really needed a reason to get away for a little bit. I am excited to share with you guys some pictures from the trip, including what I wore while roaming around my favourite city.

It felt really good to leave everything behind, even just for a few days. It is important to clear your head, take time for yourself and kind of discover who you are, what you want and where you are headed. Life can get pretty crazy and rough, so if it is going to take a quick weekend away to help sort yourself out, do it. Everyone needs a break sometimes.

BOYISH CHARM

One thing I love to embody is the borrowed-from-the-boys look. I am super into the cigarette pant + oxfords look, especially when I throw a trench coat over top which really plays with aspects of masculine and feminine style. Nowadays that men and women shop in each others sections anyhow makes me even more excited to play in the mens section and work it into stuff I already have. img_5196

ME IN D&G

Hi guys! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted a look (I suck), but now that fall is arriving, I will definitely be sure to post a lot more. Fall is my favourite season to dress for, so stay tuned for how I style it.

I really wanted to share with you guys these killer Dolce & Gabbana boots for fall. We just got them in at Saks and I could not wait to put them on. Make sure to pop in to Saks at Sherway Gardens for all your fall desires. We have received a lot of amazing styles to help you transition into the new season and keep you looking fresh for fall!

TONE+TONE

One of my favourite things to do with a look is to play with tones. Mixing neutrals with a touch of colour tends to intimidate people but realistically, playing with tones is an infallible way of creating a really unique or cool look. For me, navy is my black, and I never go wrong with a navy+neutral or navy+color combo.

Always

Hi guys! I just wanted to share some short but sweet Sunday inspiration. No matter what is going on in your life or whether or not you think you’re ready, when it comes to you, always embrace it. Choose love, every time.
